Perry Bedden was born on October 1, 1951 in London, England as Pierre Marcelin Bedenes, to a French father and British mother.

In 1963, at 12, he played Kurt in the Original London production of The Sound Of Music with Mary Martin, and went on to play Friedrich, as he grew taller. He recorded an album of "The Sound of Music" with Mary Martin, produced by Disney Records. The money from these performances allowed him to attend 'stage school' where he studied drama and dance. He excelled at tap dancing, receiving a gold medal.

In 1967 he played "Skinny" in the seven part family adventure film series "The Ghost of Monk's Island" - Fight for Survival - Mysterious Island - Unhappy Birthday - S.O.S. - A Tunnel - Captured - Ordeal by Fire

1969 Perry played Shroeder in the 1st London revival of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, on stage.

On TV he was seen in an episode of Dixon Of Dock Green - Reluctant Witness (playing Dave Childs)
and The Wednesday Play - Bam Pow Zap (as Pongo)

That same year he provided the singing voice for another actor in the film The Silver Skates, and appeared alongside Peter O'Toole in Goodbye Mr. Chipps, and was recorded for the Soundtrack.

1971 saw Perry in the controversial Andy Warhol play "Pork", and also "Child's Play".

More appearances on TV in 1972 The Protectors - Decoy (Hotel Porter)
and The Shadow Of The Tower - The Princely Gift (Lewes Cabot)

Then thanks to his tap dancing skills, he won the role of one of Herod's dancers, requiring him to tap, halfway through the routine, in the Original London Production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Herod was played by Paul Jabara, whose understudy was Richard O'Brien. The production was directed by Jim Sharman and designed by Brian Thomson. Perry was 20 years old and became friends with the group who would spawn The Rocky Horror Show.

When Paul Jabara left the show, his replacement was Jonathan Kramer. Perry and Jonathan, later in 1974, formed a singing duo Truth and Beauty, releasing a single: "Tuff Little Surfer Boy" and on the B-side "Toucha, Touch Me." (backing vocal by Nell Campbell)
